Visions of Utopia

I reckon if The Planthunter launched a textile range, it would look very much like the fabric designed by Utopia Goods. Vibrant, beautiful, and a tiny bit subversive…
Launched just over a year ago, Utopia Goods is the brainchild of Sydney creatives Sophie Tatlow and Bruce Slorach (their other business is Deuce Design).
The fabric designs are the result of Bruce’s obsessive drawing of plants and the pairs celebratory approach to native Australian flora and fauna. Their textile designs are entirely unique, particular to our continent and its amazing plant and animal life.
No, it’s not Australiana. There is nothing naff about these fabrics, bags, cushions or napkins. Their products are a celebration. I reckon Utopia Goods could/should become the Liberty of Australia, re-interpreting our native flora and fauna and framing it in a way that encourages the respect and attention it deserves. It’s about time!
