Norwegian Wood: A Road Trip

Norway reminded me of those paintings you do as a child – where you fold it in half and it smears over, mirroring the other side. The reflections were so perfect and still, making it hard to tell where the mountains ceased and the dark blue lakes began. We followed leafy paths to tremendous waterfalls, and drove through mountains and clouds. Quite often we gasped at the beauty engulfing us. Windows were neatly dressed with brightly coloured flowers and flimsy curtains. Rugged antlers hung above doorways and thick foliage grew from rooftops. The landscapes were stone cold and quiet… I was continuously looking for human evidence of those who lived in this majestic Nordic world.
